This 6-week course will cover the more active forms of self-compassion, including balancing our relationship with anger through assertiveness skills, effective communication, and setting healthy boundaries.
This course will cover teachings, reflections, meditations, and practices around the themes of:
- The yin (soft front) and yang (strong back) aspects of self-compassion
- Awareness practices to explore our feelings, needs, and values in relationships
- Different communication styles, effective communication skills, and common communication traps
- Befriending our anger and unmet needs, exploring early childhood rules about expressing anger, and the function of anger when in balance
- The physiology of anger, fear, and shame and how this impacts our ability to communicate, express, and assert our needs
- Empathy overwhelm, mirror neurons, and guilt around setting boundaries
